With the holy month of Ramadan slowly coming to an end…People all over the world are waiting with much anticipation for Eid al-Fitr.

Eid or “labarang” as us Malays refer it to; is a celebratory day that marks the end of the month-long fast of Ramadan, and the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal.

On this day, Muslims gather at mosques in the morning to perform the Eid prayer, before holding family gatherings and visiting friends and loved ones.

But, there’s one thing that people are even more excited (or panicked) about and that would be what you’re going to wear on this auspicious day.

Most people aren’t phased about buying new clothes for Eid; but I remember growing up Eid shopping was the best. You were allowed to take whatever you wanted to make sure you felt the best.

But, as you get older the spending copious amounts of money on clothing and getting your items a month in advance is a no go. (Life gets busier, you get broker…)

So, if you’re a last minute Eid buyer like me and prefers to have clothing that’s versatile; meaning you can make it look glam as an Eid outfit or wear it as a street style piece then this inspiration list is for you!

1. Local blogger Aqeelah Harron aka Fashion Breed always coming to our rescue:

2. A trendy look from Miss Aisha Baker that could easily work for Eid if you’re not a dress and skirt type of person; also what’s great is that you can wear these pieces individually and style it down:

3. The local modest fashionista herself; Nabilah Karriem. She always looks effortlessly chic and literally all of the outfits she puts together are “Muslim Appropriate” and stylish:

Oh hey there Instagram…just some Eid inspo for ya😊 ____________________ πŸ“·@rizqua_barnes

4. It’s Winter and that means layers and a monochrome palette! If you’re more of a Plain Jane type of girl and prefer not to wear the high uncomfortable heels on Eid then take some inspiration from Dina Tokio and this super stylish and chic outfit:

5. You could always just go with an abaya if you want something more easy and traditional just like Hassanah El-Yacoubin done over here:

And not to worry…I never forgot about the guys.

1. The handsome and fashionable Islaam Yasin pulls off an oriental scarf that you’ll find most men wear to mosque also reffered to as a ghutra or shemagh. He rocks this with a pair of formal shoes, waistcoat and what looks like a half of a Salaah Top (hey, it works.)

2. It is chilly after all so take inspo from Husam Al-Deen who goes with the “less-is-more” motto and if you like your neutrals you’ll definitely like his aesthetic. As seen here; just rock a nice neutral jersey with some fancy shoes and pants and you’re good to go:

3. Jamel Sahia is all about sportswear and for a guy I feel like it’s easier to pull off street wear on Eid (realised that a guy can almost always pull off anything…they’re just easier).

You’re probably thinking “how does street wear even work on EID” well I’ve seen my cousin pull it off pretty well and it just happens to work if that’s your own individual style. Check it:

4. And then there’s the usual dapper look that a lot of Capetonian guys seem to go with; so why not check Sergio Ines out. Local fashion guru on all things male fashion:

5. Or just be like Subhi Taha and rock that lovely white Salaah top with no fuss (just change the shoes) and make sure that hair is cut and beard impeccably taken care of and you’ll be looking just as dapper!

After stalking all these lovely fashionable men I’m instantly more excited for Eid because woah…or should I say “waaw”
(See what I did there Arabic speaking folk. LOL)

But no not actually; can’t get too excited because you have to #lowerthatgaze.

And with that; I leave you all to embark on your last minute Eid shopping if you haven’t gotten to it yet and to most importantly enjoy and cherish these last few days of this holy month.
