Instagram’s newest feature is making the app a little more inclusive.
The Facebook-owned social media company announced earlier this week that they would be adding a new feature on the platform that will allow individuals to display their pronouns publicly, on their profiles.
According to reports, the feature allows users to share up to four pronouns that can be selected from a pre-approved list of common used pronouns.
Whether the pronouns are shared with followers only or shared publicly will be determined by users.
This new profile section is currently available in the US, the UK, Canada, and Australia but the company is looking to roll it out to the rest of the world soon.
Users have taken to Twitter to celebrate the new feature, with one writing, “This is incredibly cool, but maybe can you please add an it/its option? some trans and nonbinary individuals like it/its pronouns.”
Another wrote, “For those who don’t know, there’s a great new update by Instagram to now add pronouns to your bio. Sometimes the things that are very easy to do help others know that we see and support them.”
Before this dedicated pronouns section was released, users were sharing their pronouns in the traditional bio section on the platform.
